Javier Fernández, Manuel Orantes and García Bragado, winners of the María de Villota and Ciudad de la Raqueta Awards

The world of sport lived a great commemorative party, one more year, in the VIII edition of the City of Racket and the VI María de Villota awards. The City of Racket hosted an event highlighted by its fluidity, dynamism and fun and in which the Spanish basketball team, a Spanish tennis legend such as Manuel Orantes or athletes of the stature size were rewarded, among others. Javier Fernández or Jesús Ángel García Bragado, recognized for his sports career and for the exploits performed in their respective disciplines.

Skater Javier Fernandez He was awarded in the María de Villota in the category of Sports Trajectory, months after abandoning the practice of figure skating in high competition, where he has made history wearing the colors of Spain. Jesús Ángel García Bragado, on the other hand, he is still active at his 50 years and in a few months he will put an end to his excellent career in his eighth Olympic Games, in Tokyo. His was the prize María de Villota to the Sports feat. The swimmer Ona Carbonell was also awarded, the woman with the most medals in the history of the swimming world championships, who could not attend the gala due to another commitment.

However, the high point of the ceremony came from the hand of the Special Jury recognition to the Fernández Ochoa family, represented at the ceremony by Lola Fernández Ochoa and her brothers, and Dolores Ochoa, mother of the recently deceased Blanca Fernández Ochoa.

Koki Martí, CEO of Racket City, reviewed all the awards and showed his "satisfaction with the prize winners" and thanked all the winners for their presence. For its part, Emilio de Villota remembered María de Villota's legacy and valued "an unbeatable prize list that gathers the best of Spanish sport"

The event was attended by personalities from the world of sports such as Fernando Romay, who collected the Spanish Basketball Team award; José Luis Llorente, former basketball player Vicente Ramos, Andy Soucek, ambassador of the María de Villota Legacy; Tati Rascón, the president of the RFET, Miguel Díaz, the Fernández Ochoa family, the president of the Spanish Athletics Federation, Raúl Chapado. The Jury of the María de Villota and Ciudad de la Raqueta Awards it is chaired by Emilio de Villota and Javier Martí, and integrated by José Luis Llorente; Emilio Sánchez Vicario; Jota Abril, Raúl Chapado, Hernán Auguste; Iñigo Jofre, Pedro Pérez, Manuel Martín, Jacobo Beltrán, David Ramírez, Marina Hernanz, Alfonso Jiménez, Virginia Ruano and Javier Arenzana.
