More than 100 participants from 18 countries complete the third edition of the Club La Santa virtual race
More than one hundred participants from 18 countries They have completed the third round of the Club La Santa Virtual Series, which concluded last Sunday and which has had two categories: marathon (42K) and half marathon (21K), which the registrants have been able to do individually, in pairs or in teams of 4 people.
The Englishman Alun Bonello, with a time of 02:56:42, has obtained the best time in the individual marathon category, in which there was no female representation. In the individual half marathon, the winners were the Danish Kasper Laumann, with a time of 01:14:40, and the German Hella Haak, with a time of 01:34:36. The best classified Spanish athlete was Dixon Villa, who obtained the 19th fastest time in the half marathon, with 1:55:41.
In the couples category, the victory went to the one formed by Meghan Howell and Jeinis Patel, which stopped the half marathon timer at 01:17:59. In the team classification, the best time in the marathon category has been achieved by the Fintrackers mixed team (made up of Gisela Reichmut, Silvan Zurbrüg, Damian Tschirky and Kathrin Hagen) with a time of 03:11:55. In the category of team half marathon, the best time was that of the mixed team The Italian Job (formed by Sara Perani, Stefano Orizio, Karen Grove, Alessandro Degasperi) with a time of 01:52:27. All of them will be able to attend virtually the awards ceremony, which It will be broadcast on Club La Santa’s Facebook and YouTube profile this week.
The Club La Santa Virtual Series 3, which has also had participants of all levels and ages (from infantile category to over 75 years), has once again brought together athletes from 18 countries: Bahrain, Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, Spain , France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, the United States, Vietnam, Estonia, Canada, Australia, South Africa and Switzerland. The participation mechanics have been similar to that of the first two editions of the Virtual Series: each runner has uploaded to their participant profile the receipt of their device that reflects the distance traveled, as well as the time obtained in it.
This third edition, again supported by Turismo de Lanzarote and European Sports Destination, has once again demonstrated the commitment of Club La Santa to promoting an active and healthy life. Fabio Cabrera, director of the event, has stated that “we are very happy to see the way in which the Virtual Series are consolidating in the calendar, with a high participation rate in each edition. We are delighted to see how hundreds of people from different countries come together around a common denominator: sport and healthy life, two fundamental pillars for Club La Santa ”.
The Club La Santa organization is already working on Virtual Series 4, whose new format will be announced in the coming weeks, coinciding with the opening of registrations scheduled for early September.
As in the two previous editions, 30% of the proceeds from the Virtual Series will go to the UNICEF Foundation, an organization with which Club La Santa has collaborated since 2011, in support of its different campaigns to reduce inequality and child poverty.
